It is known that the ridge, being the most efficient route, on which Oxford Street was built was also a walking track used by Aboriginal people. It's the best suburb I've ever lived. It has a population of about 11,700 13% of whom are under 18 and 16% of whom are over 60. It attracts a certain resident that is a cross between student and theatre workers with many interesting folk. Paddington also has a thriving LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) community, and every year the Mardi Gras parade takes place nearby in the neighbouring suburb of Darlinghurst.Paddington is a wonderful place to live, but it’s not exactly cheap.
Beautiful architecture, great restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops, hills that create interesting vistas that attract an eclectic group of friendly people.

"Quiet and delightful - one of the best streets in Paddington"
There are many alternative medicine places and the doctors are good. I love living in Paddington and have now done so for nearly 10 years. The area is safe, the residents are very friendly and welcoming, and there is a strong sense of community. We lived at the top of Martha Street, a good little bit of hill to walk up too everyday after school. It is certainly convenient to the city and shops, but it lacks real personality.
Paddington was an area of old wooden 'Queenslanders' but over time they have been renovated and this area has taken on an atmosphere all of its own. It's also really pretty, with a nice blend of quaint cottages and schmick new apartments.
If you consider shopping a great way to spend time, then you'll love Paddington in Brisbane. Ithace pool has been upgraded. For an urban suburb, it is surprisingly quiet! A really nice suburb near lots of restaurants. For the three years it was fantastic as a kid, leafy, safe and everyone was friendly. From being a child and going back to enjoy the area as an adult was a pleasure, seeing the change and hype of the area increase. Paddington is such a great place to live. Ithaca TAFE is down the road, the Broncos club and the Paddo pub are down the road. Lived in this area for about 4 years. Close to everything, and a great cafe/shopping area. Moved into Warmington Street and into a share house which was a hoot. Everyone at Paddo shops is friendly.
