EASTERN suburbs Lockridge and Balga are in the top 20 list for worst crime suburbs in Perth, according to a community crime site.Perth Crime Map takes data from the WA Police website and 2011 Census data to create a ranking system of Perth’s suburbs.Using WA Police’s September quarter data of assaults, burglaries, car thefts, the website shows Balga as the 13th worst suburb for crime in Perth, with 7.1 crimes per 100 residents over the past year, including 318 home burglaries, 216 assaults and 74 car thefts.The number of crimes in Balga had increased each year over the past six years and was up from 6.4 crimes per 100 residents the previous year.Lockridge has been ranked the 15th worst crime suburb by the site, with 6.8 crimes per 100 people, including 111 burglaries and 94 assaults in its 3567 population.Bayswater recorded 3.4 crimes per 100 residents, Maylands 3.2 crimes and Bassendean 4.8, in comparison to the Perth-wide average of 3.4 crimes per 100 residents.The main types of crime were home burglaries and assaults.Midvale was the worst suburb for crime at 15.9 crimes per 100 residents in the past year, with Burswood, Perth CBD and Midland close behind.At the other end of the spectrum, Dalkeith had 0.7 crimes per 100 residents, followed by Floreat, Lower Chittering and Leeming.Other eastern suburbs crime reported per 100 residents included: Ashfield 4.5, Ballajura 1.9, Bedford 3.1, Beechboro 2.7, Caversham 5.8, Dianella 1.9, Eden Hill 4.7, Embleton 4.9, Kiara 2.7, Mirrabooka 5.8, Morley 3.4, Nollamara 5.4, Noranda 1.5 and Westminster 5.1.Perth Crime Map was not endorsed by police or the Australia Bureau of Statistics.Residents were grateful for sympathetic and helpful Police response.WIN 1 in 20 Family Passes to A Taste of Chittering!WIN 1 in 20 Family Passes to A Taste of Chittering! This Counting Rule is applied retrospectively to all years of data, and is supported by recent improvements to recording practices.
