My husband and I are looking to buy a liberty diesel and I am just trying to find out if they are really as good as people say. Had vehicle towed to dealer. Wonderful vehicle and we are pleased. 0 crd Jeeps that this has happened to while driving. Do you think anything else could have been damaged by the oil spillage? You should try to get the dealer to compensate you for buying a new battery as their negligence caused the alternator to fail. $400
We have 45,000 plus miles now. Especially the transmission parts and the electronics in it.
They all have the same issue down here, and I changed my oil every 2500 miles and I also use original Mopar parts and mobil oil recommended. Did you have some one clean the EGR for you or did you do it yourself? I then got him to rebuild my turbo, he cleaned the EGR and replaced the swirl valve with a new one and removed the Cat converters. I have been hearing and reading about the cam position sensor.
I have heard this is a problem with my vehicle, the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee crd. According to the v08 recall notice, Jeep promised the recall would not affect the way the vehicles drives and also would not affect mileage, which has been proven false. 7.New PCM & Engine harness ( Had acid damage from blown battery) With the scan tool fuel pressure is at 36k psi which is pretty good. Update of NHTSA odi complaint # 10203222 concerning 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3. We towed a trailer with an Austin Mini on it, total weight about 3,000 lbs. Average Mileage: IMO that’s a huge safety concern.I also had the “bump” the key issue happen once when I was towing back from a race with my son and we were going uphill and I accidentally knocked the key with my knee and it shut off completely – I shifted into neutral, coasted to the side of the road (lot’s of traffic) and stopped, put it in park and shut it down completely. I want to come back as a functioning CRD. the crd diesel was still produced up to 2010 model year, but apparently only for export. Could not find a dealer in SoCal who had the proper tools so I drove to Scottsdale, Az.
Thank you for compiling all of this! Thanks for posting all this.
I couldn't agree more with you, I love this car. It causes the car to not accelerate properly and is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic and going up hills.
It stalled again 11/5/07 at about 10,000 miles after I pulled into a parking place at work.
I just replaced the serp.
This creates a serious safety hazard. I believe this is related to the crankshaft positioning sensor problem that prompted a recent recall of this engine by Mercedes Benz (3l crd engine). We also love the way the Liberty handles. This problem can be documented by calling them by telephone. I also installed the Futomoto oil drain valve to significantly cut down on spillage when replacing the oil.
They just change the program parameters according to local specifications. Although out of production for some time now, there continue to be plenty of these well-known vehicles on the street. Was replaced but still have the very same issue with the car. It drips what I think is oil on the driveway and also appears to release vapor or exhaust when running that at times causes diesel exhaust odor in the cabin.
But nothing was done to repair the problem as the car started by the time it got to the dealership.
We are also very happy with our 2006 Liberty CRD Limited.
I used to help him as a rider and we’d go up / down these steep hills to get their endurance back up.I am already underway browsing around for a rebuilt unit.
I saw an oil leakage, there were alot of noise whenever the Jeep went over a bumper, the check engine was on, the seats were torn…was a great disappointment as it had qd2 which is wxremely rare, yet looked like buying a 2007 crd which was poorly maintained is not a good idea. Seems to be coming from the turbo side of the engine compartment.
I'll definately call my local dealers and ask their techs. $5,100 take out the fuel cap and put the contact on .
It occurs without warning and at any speed. I am noticing a grinding/whining sound, similiar to what you would hear from a low power steering pump. On 10/2/07 selling dealer technician changed crankshaft position sensor per manufacturer TSB but vehicle engine still would not start.
Also find a dealer who is experienced with the WK CRD (maybe try a Mercedes dealership if necessary). In fact the brake division leader at Still has a PHD in Metallurgy.
I have spoken to the district service manager robert. Anyone got same issue?
Maybe swirl motor?Hi Guys just a note to say i have solved all my stalling problems with my 2007 crd.I have a chance to buy a 2007 CRD, but it has 170KMs. IIRC the manual recommends 5w-30 as well. Each "fix" works for anywhere from 1 - 6 weeks before a light comes on again and the vehicle needs to be taken back to the dealer.
Suppose the turbocharger is finished and that I have to get a replacement. Diesel fuel also smells oil versus gasoline and is much harder to get clean up after (any spill takes a long time to clean and the smell will last a long time).
You are supposed to leave it for 15 mins before draining but I leave it for 30 mins after the engine was fully warm (about 1/2 way on the temp gauge).I don’t know if you can block off the EGR valve. I suppose this is not necessarily a Diesel specific problem but I am posting it here anyway in the hope to get more useful comments than I have been able to find elesewhere. Not sure what I can tell you as I did not have this issue with mine and no longer own it (sold it when it had 115k on it).
